Join B.C. Walks and Walk for the Health of it!
UHS has partnered up with a number of local organizations to get the community walking with B.C. Walks, a wellness initiative to help everyone in our community walk their way to better health and improved physical fitness.
BC Walks is a walking resource for Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, Tioga and Tompkins Counties.
Explore the many local trails available, link to upcoming events and farmer’s markets.
Walking is one of the best ways to become and stay fit.
It's free -- All you need are comfortable clothes, a pair of sneakers or walking shoes, and the desire to become a healthier you!
And easy -- Start slowly by walking just 10 minutes each day. Soon you'll work your way up to 20 minutes, then 30 minutes and before you know it walking will become a habit . . . a healthy way of life.
Ask your workplace if you can start a walking trail for employees and visitors to use. Take a 10 minute walk during your breaks from work and ask a friend to walk with you.
Why not join the Mall Walkers at Oakdale Mall? You can enjoy good company, stay out of the heat during the summer, and remain warm and dry in the winter! The mall opens at 7:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday and at 8:00 a.m. on Sundays for mall walkers.
Stop by the UHS Stay Healthy Center in the Sears wing for a free blood pressure screening while you're there.
The Stay Healthy Center hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 9a 5p; Thursday 9a 7p and Saturday 9a 5p. It is closed on Sundays.
BC Walks the Mall Circuit brochures are available at the Mall office and the UHS Stay Healthy Center.
